Tucked between the Cornish villages of Fowey and Polkerris, Saints Way Wines is a small, independent vineyard and orchard set along the ancient pilgrim route from which it takes its name. The land at Trenant, where the Saints Way footpath winds between the old farmhouse and the converted barns, forms part of the historic Rashleigh Estate — and has been at the heart of our family’s story for generations.

Graham, the founder of Saints Way Wines, was born in a cottage in Polkerris and grew up in the village, he returned to the area forty years ago and has called it home ever since. The orchard at Trenant has stood for hundreds of years, and in more recent times Graham has carefully restored and expanded it, replanting traditional Cornish apple varieties and tending the landscape with care.

The idea for the vineyard was seeded in Graham’s deep knowledge of the land. One particular south-facing field seemed to hold promise. In 2024, following soil and climate analysis, 16,000 grapevines were planted — a mix of red and white varieties chosen to suit the site and extend the harvest season. The vineyard and orchard are managed without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers, and ongoing work includes the restoration of woodland and careful stewardship of the surrounding environment.

Saints Way Wines is at the very beginning of its journey. There is no wine for sale — yet. But the first vintage is in development, and we’ll be sharing updates as everything takes shape.
