Our Story

Tucked between the Cornish villages of Fowey and Polkerris, Saints Way Wines is a small, independent vineyard and orchard set along the ancient pilgrim route from which it takes its name.

The land at Trenant, where the Saints Way footpath winds between the old farmhouse and converted barns, forms part of the historic Rashleigh Estate and has been at the heart of our family’s story for generations.

Rooted in this corner of Cornwall

Graham, the founder of Saints Way Wines, was born in a cottage in Polkerris and grew up in the village. He returned to the area more than forty years ago and has called it home ever since.

The orchard at Trenant has stood for hundreds of years. Over time, Graham has restored and expanded it, planting hundreds of new apple trees alongside established varieties and bringing previously neglected areas of the farm back into productive use.

The idea for a vineyard grew from that same understanding of the land. One particular south-facing field had long seemed to hold promise and, following detailed soil and climate analysis, 16,000 vines were planted in 2024.

The vineyard includes a mixture of red and white varieties selected for their suitability to the Cornish climate, including modern disease-resistant varieties which allow us to take a low-intervention approach in the vineyard.

What began with Graham has gradually become a family endeavour, with the next generation now involved in the day-to-day life of Saints Way — and an even younger generation already very keen to lend a hand whenever there’s a job to be done.

From orchard and vineyard to bottle

Our first wines were released in 2026.

We began with the fruit already growing around us, creating a small collection of still wines made from apples grown here at Trenant. Produced in limited quantities, they are an expression of the orchard and our first step towards a range that will eventually include wines from the vineyard as the vines mature.

Everything we do is deliberately small-scale. From tending the vines and orchard to pressing, blending and bottling, our aim is to make distinctive wines that reflect this particular corner of Cornwall rather than trying to make it conform to somewhere else.

Saints Way Wines is somewhere to visit as well as somewhere we make wine.

During the season, visitors can join us for a wine tasting and vineyard tour, buy our wines from the cellar door, or simply discover a little more about what we are growing and making here.

For those who would like to stay longer, Trenant is also home to our guest accommodation, surrounded by the vineyard, orchard and Cornish countryside just outside Fowey.

The story of Saints Way Wines is still being written. The orchard is growing, the vineyard is establishing and each vintage will bring something new.
